The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part One

[ English ]

The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces off the game board faster than your opponent who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and luck. Just how far you will be able to shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and just how you move your chips are determined by your overall playing tactics. Players use a number of tactics in the different stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your pieces into your inside board and bear them off as quick as you could. This strategy concentrates on the pace of advancing your checkers with absolutely no time spent to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The best time to employ this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own pieces a lot faster than your opposing player does: when 1) you have less chips on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your opponent’s pieces; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary goal of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to stop your opponent’s chips, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your pieces quickly. As soon as you’ve established the blockage for the opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other chips rapidly off the board. The player will need to also have a good strategy when to withdraw and shift the checkers that you employed for blocking. The game gets interesting when your opponent utilizes the same blocking tactic.
