The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces from the game board faster than your opposing player who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you can shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your chips are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use different strategies in the different stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Strategy
The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your checkers into your home board and pull them off as fast as you can. This tactic focuses on the pace of shifting your pieces with little or no efforts to hit or barricade your competitor’s pieces. The ideal scenario to employ this tactic is when you believe you can move your own checkers quicker than the opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opponent does not use the hitting or blocking technique.
The Blocking Game Tactic
The main goal of the blocking tactic, by its name, is to block the competitor’s chips, temporarily, not fretting about moving your chips quickly. After you have created the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a few checkers, you can shift your other pieces quickly off the board. The player should also have a clear strategy when to extract and move the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the opposition uses the same blocking tactic.
