The Essential Details of Backgammon Game Plans – Part Two

As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move her chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he/she at all attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of the opponent, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan uses different tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is commonly utilized when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
