The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your chips around the Backgammon board and bear them off the board quicker than your competitor who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a match in Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you will be able to shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you move your checkers are determined by your overall playing strategies. Players use a number of strategies in the differing parts of a game depending on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Strategy
The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your checkers into your inside board and bear them off as quick as you can. This strategy concentrates on the speed of shifting your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or block your competitor’s pieces. The best scenario to use this strategy is when you believe you might be able to move your own pieces a lot faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your opponent’s chips; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking technique.
The Blocking Game Technique
The main goal of the blocking technique, by its title, is to block the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces quickly. After you have created the barrier for the opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can move your other pieces rapidly off the game board. The player will need to also have an apparent strategy when to withdraw and move the checkers that you used for the blockade. The game gets interesting when your competitor utilizes the same blocking strategy.
