The Essential Facts of Backgammon Game Plans – Part Two

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the board to your home board while at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift her chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your opponent, your opponent does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game technique relies on different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often used when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
