The Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 1

The aim of a Backgammon game is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull them from the board faster than your challenger who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a game of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and good luck. How far you can shift your chips is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and the way you shift your checkers are decided on by your overall playing tactics. Enthusiasts use differing plans in the differing parts of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The aim of the Running Game technique is to lure all your pieces into your inside board and bear them off as quickly as you can. This tactic focuses on the speed of moving your chips with absolutely no efforts to hit or stop your competitor’s pieces. The best scenario to use this plan is when you think you can shift your own chips faster than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the game board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) your opponent does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Technique

The primary goal of the blocking plan, by the name, is to block the competitor’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your checkers rapidly. After you have created the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other checkers quickly from the board. The player should also have an apparent strategy when to withdraw and shift the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when your opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
